This document sets out the policy of Thorley & Associates' handling
of personal information. At Thorley & Associates we know that by
providing us with your CV and personal details you put trust in our
organisation to make you aware of how your information is used at all
times. We take your act of trust seriously.
Statement of Commitment
We
are strongly committed to protecting an individual's right to privacy.
We are fully committed to our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988
(Cth) as amended by the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000
(Cth) (“Act”).
Personal Information Typically,
personal information that we collect, hold and handle is usually from
persons making a general employment application or persons applying to
a specific position advertised by Thorley & Associates. By way of
example, this information includes an applicant's contact details,
employment and educational history and referee contact details.
Purpose of Collection
Thorley & Associates collects personal information about candidates
for employment purposes, including consideration in the recruitment
process. We also hold personal information in relation to any human
resource consulting assignments that we are engaged to perform for our
clients. Generally, this information will be collected from the
candidate directly but it may also be collected from referees. We will
only collect this information where you have consented us to do so.
Disclosure
We will disclose your information for the purposes for which it is
primarily held or for related secondary purposes or in accordance with
the Act (eg where you have consented or where you would reasonably
expect this to occur). Thorley & Associates usually discloses such
information to our client with the vacant position of whom you have
applied for.
We
may disclose your personal information where we are under a legal duty
to do so including circumstances where we are under a lawful duty of
care to disclose information.
Storage Thorley
& Associates will endeavour to maintain a secure system for storing
personal information. Technological and operational policies and
procedures are in place to protect personal information from misuse and
loss and from unauthorised modification or disclosure. We will delete
information where it is no longer necessary to fulfil the purposes for
which the information was collected or as required by law.
Access
Subject to some exceptions that are set out in the National Privacy
Principles, you can gain access to the personal information that we
hold about you. We do refuse access if it would interfere with the
privacy rights of other persons or if it will breach any
confidentiality that is attached to that information.
Complaints
If you are not happy with the way Thorley & Associates has handled
your personal information we want to know about it. You may make a
complaint at any time to the Director of Thorley & Associates by
contacting 07 3348 9413. Your complaint will be investigated and taken
seriously at all times. You will always be provided with a response.
